Ladies and gentlemen, the next Mars orbiter, MAVEN, is set to launch within the hour. This orbiter is designed to make a detailed study of how Mars might have lost its atmosphere, and it should say hi to the rover a few times, too.
You can watch the launch here:

We are reaching a ridiculous level of manmade hardware on or orbiting Mars.
MRO, MGS, Mars Express, Mars Odyssey and soon MAVEN in orbit, plus Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity on the surface.
Not to mention the defunct hardware like Pathfinder, Viking 1 and 2, and Phoenix.
When you actually consider how far away Mars is, that tiny reddish dot you can sometimes spot in the night sky, it's truly incredible.

...and I have a meeting that I can't get out of scheduled for 2 minutes after launch...in a building that blocks all streaming video. Unlimited data on my phone, FTW.
